The path to la conocimiento is a an awakening, a seven step spiritual process articulated by Chicana feminist theorist Gloria Anzaldúa in her essay "now let us shift...the path of conocimiento...inner works, public acts" and published in This Bridge We Call Home. Bothe the collection and the individual essay are must reads for intersectional, self-aware feminist education. El arrebato is the first stage: a rupture, the wounds. It is usually an ending but, also of vital importance, it is a beginning. This essay was critical in my personal, feminist development and by far the most resonant, inspiring, motivating work she read in grad school and I revisit it whenever I feel lost, overwhelmed, hopeless, exhausted by my feminist work. Anzaldúa's connection to the deeper work of the struggle of self and reverence for the higher work of the universe was essential to my own feminist identity.
